MARK ALLEN PETERSON is Professor of Anthropology and International Studies at Miami University. He is the author of Connected in Cairo: Growing Up Cosmopolitan in the Modern Middle East (Indiana, 2011) and Anthropology and Mass Communication: Media and Myth in the New Millennium (Berghahn 2003). He co-edited and co-authored International Studies: An Interdisciplinary Approach to Global Issues (Westview 2008). He taught 1997-2002 at the American University in Cairo. His work on globalization, popular culture and modernity has appeared in Anthropology Today, Alif, Childhood, Contemporary Islam, Teaching Anthropology, New Reviews in Hypermedia and Multimedia, Journal of Consumer Culture and Anthropological Quarterly.
